3. What can you do to improve your digital footprint and your digital 'reach' (the number of people who see you on-line)?

4. Thinking question. In business, many deals are done face to face.  The communications for those deals are often done via, email, fax, phone, conference call etc but at some point there is a face to face meeting to facilitate the deal; even if someone has to fly halfway around the world.  Do you think that on-line interactions in business will fully replace the face to face interaction?

Final PROJECTS  DUE WEDNESDAY Jan 22!

BACKFIRE!!! Great Commercial, but it Backfired!!
Are you Good Enough to Fail?

The Assignment:  You are to come up with a GOOD Commercial that uses good strategies and captures people’s attention.  Since you are experts in Marketing, that should be easy enough.  However the challenge is that you have to make a good commercial that is for a bad product.  In other words, come up with a bad idea, and then sell it with excellent promotion.   You may work alone, or in a group up to a MAXIMUM of 3 people.

Outline for the assignment:

  • You must create either a video commercial or a series of print advertisements that are good quality and use proven marketing strategies.  The ad must be for a BAD idea.  It must be a GOOD commercial. (30)

  •  After you finish your commercial/poster/video presentation, the class as a whole will decide whether or not your commercial is a ``GOOD``  and whether or not it would actually Backfire.    (10 marks) {Peer evaluated}
  • TOTAL 40 Marks

Marketing 12

PSA Advertising/Final Project.

The Assignment:  You are to come up with a commercial that is designed to:
  • Increase student awareness about topic that you feel is important
  • Attempt to get people to try to change their behaviour or the behaviour of others
  • Attempt to change peoples’ opinion on a topic
  • Attempt to get people to donate money to a cause.

Outline for the assignment:

  • Come up with a topic to make your PSA about.  It will be easier for you if you personally feel that the topic is important

  • Remember that with PSA’s, emotional connection is key!  Music can help, personal stories, feeling of hope or change, simple images, and shock.  You may choose to add in an ad extention, such as a link to a website or social networking site (real or made up)

  •  After you finish your commercial/poster/video presentation, the class as a whole will decide whether or not your commercial was a ‘good’ commercial and then if it actually achieved its goal (making students stop and think) in other words, was it an effective advertisement.  (10 marks) {Peer evaluated}

  • TOTAL 40 Marks

And he'll recall some notable negative campaigns that backfired.
