Today it is time to perform a Benefit Analysis.  That is when you look at your brand specifically and see your benefits of choosing your brand to your customer.  This is very useful in creating your advertising strategy because it will help you know what is 'better' about your brand over your competition.  By doing this you should start to think about how your brand will be packages, shaped etc.  Please see page 202

Marketing 11

Every year, Adweek compiles its collection of the 20 worst marketing mistakes.  Some are minor some are pretty major.  Start by looking through the 20 mistakes. LINK

1. Is there any commonalities between the marketing mistakes?

2. Which one do you think is the biggest mistake?

3. Do you think that any of these weren't a bad mistake?  Keep in mind target market.

Marketing 12

Now that you know a bit about your competition, it is time to conduct some market research.  Since both groups have products that most students are not the target market for, you are not required to actually conduct the research but instead come up with a plan on how you would conduct your research.  This must include a series of questions (at least 10) that you would ask in either a survey (postal, phone, internet), face to face interview, focus group or a combination of many.  I will check your progress to help you as needed.

Today you will be looking at Disney.  One of the ways that Disney is so successful is that they are excellent at creating a brand image and tie their brand to emotional experiences.  Disney is also good at 'diversification', that is dealing in more than one area/product/target market.

Today you will focus directly on Disney Movies.  Disney traditionally made kid movies that would also appeal to parents.  Today they have diversified and make different movies with different target audiences.

Please research each of these offshoots of the Disney corporation and explain what thier target markets are.
